MaggieGrace is working.

I have been working on stuff - I promise.

I am almost finished with the current baby blanket. I'll be showing it off in the next day or so.

I am also working on a square for the Georgia Theatre auction quilt. I have my main element completed -- now just to decide the background.

A peek of the main element is below.

And because Lannae wanted to see this --- here is my framed collage from the other weekend.

I thought it would live happily with the Alphabet piece. I was wrong. The are kinda competing with each other. I think they will be happy in the same room, but like siblings sharing a room - they are gonna need their own space.

Oh well - snowing here - again. The ground is turning white and the temp is dropping. We are at work watching this happen.

I hope all of you have a great day.

Just Once ......

I was ahead of the game. Oh yea - I was ahead. That never happens, especially on trends. Look at the picture above - it is from the new Pottery Barn Kids catalog.

AN adorable kids bedroom.

I love the tree branch and the butterflies and OMG check out the owls. But look at what is on the bed, the quilt and then look at what I posted in - December06

To me this is so very cool - to be a trendsetter - can I pretend that Pottery Barn saw my MaggieGracePost and came up with this? I'm going to.

We watched the Softball Princess for two games last night, but still got home early enough to finish a couple of embellished compostition book journals. I'll be selling some of these locally and some will become gifts for the Holiday Season.

The first, features one of my crochet medallions and a favorite vintage sheet music strip. Those tiny stars over the angel trio are sequins and add just the right amount of glitz to this cover. This one was my favorite.

JenB - friend and inspiration has send a couple of small "just because" packages my way. One had a note on a wonderful ShimandSons notecard that looked like a hopscotch game. Jen had no idea how much I adore Sally's work, but I immediately knew that the card was to be used on a journal.

Very Mary had a giveaway several weeks ago of circles. Circles - punched out of fun papers. inspired by those circles, I combined the colors in the notecard, about an hour digging through the scrap paper box and punching circles that coordinated, and then some glue time and the new John Fogerty cd. (a must have people)

Here is the very fun journal I came up with. It's my new favorite.

I love how all the colors work together. I added a wire word from somewhere too. Again I was using what I had. Recycling at it's prettiest.

On the upcoming events news fronts - I have been asked to complete a presentation on ATC for the local embroidery guild. I'll be making kits for the few ladies attending and making each of them an ATC from me. This all happens on Nov 17. I have questions. Should I make the kit as a pattern and then give the supporting materials - or just include a few materials and encourage artistic freedom. The lovely lady who asked me to do this informed me that these are very traditional crafters and do not understand the sudden increase in mixed media artworks like ATC and art quilts. I will be taking my magazines and a notebook full of ATC to display. I would love to add some embroidered/quilted/stitched new ATC to the mix. If anyone is interest in swapping some with me -- please let me know. Leave a message in the comments or email me at teresahome@juno.com.

Thanks so much for everything- have a wonderful day.

600 - a weekend update and a giveaway

We had a great weekend. The Softball Princess had a date on Friday night - they went to see Lakeview Terrace. She enjoyed it. I am not sure it the kind of movie I would like. College Freshamn had a match. We had a Friday night with no plans. So what did we do???? Took off to the Flats Bar to see these guys.
The Man at My Address' baby brother - John is the lead vocalist for the Reservoir Dogs. It was fun. I sing a pretty good drunk girl backup myself - but only sang for two songs - we visited and drank a few beers and generally relaxed. I am sharing picture so that the girls can grab them off of here. Dennis if you are interested right click - they are not protected. (note to dennis - when I find the superman pictures I'll share the rest of that story. )

A few folks from the evening.
Rich and his wife, Chrystal.

Tony and his Sweetie, Kristy.

JW Hell - himself. My Brother inlaw. I absolutely adore this guy. The hat is a nice touch.

Cain - quiet. I don't think I have ever heard him say anything.

John and Libby. He says she's normal - let' just say - you need to be a little nuts to join this crew. She is soooo pretty.

The next two are a variation on a Flats Tradition. Note this is a rural Georgia Biker Bar. The kind of place that there is no way you would just stop at to have a drink. We love the people here. The bartenders are fabulous. I have never been uncomfortable here. One of my favorite places to party. The College Freshman will be going with us the next trip. 18 to party 21 to drink and she is now 18 - she can drive us home. I cannot believe I have a child old enough for this activity.

Now for the pictures.

At the end of the night, the tradition is for the ladies in attendance to dance on the bar (I have NEVER participated in this activity) , but Friday night finds our singer up there too.

Tall good looking rock star boy did okay - check out the bills in the waistband of his pants. Also check out the tattoo - it is one of the best I have ever seen - an old fashioned "crooner" type of microphone. Love it.

We had a blast and like all these years, we will be back in just a few weeks.

Now for post 600 - in addition to the activity of my weekend, I finished a few things. Including this altered composition book (below). Nothing done to the interior but the front is embellished with a few of my favorite things. A medallion from those recycled cards, vintage bits and bobs, some stamps and floral embellishments too.

You know how it works - leave a comment - get entered. I pick one out of the hat (or some other vessel) on Friday at lunchtime.

Have a wonderful day.
